Easy Christmas Cookies For the Whole Family by Jim Bolding..
When school is canceled because of bad weather and your children have turned into trolls with no sense of humor, it's time to declare a bake day. Easy Christmas cookies can save the day and put a smile on everyone's face! All you have to do is tie aprons on little necks and wash little hands; then you can start measuring and mixing.
A peanut butter based no bake cookie is a good starting point - especially if you have toddlers. No eggs, so food poisoning from eating raw dough isn't an issue! Even the littlest hands can mix the dough, roll it into balls and plunk them in a bowl of powdered sugar for a thorough dusting.
The best part is all the stuff you can let them throw in. A two year old can kill a half hour carefully dropping in chocolate chips, chopped gumdrops or raisins one at a time. Sift a handful of dry milk powder in for a protein boost - they'll never know you just made cookies healthy! Feel free to nibble yourself; this is a guilt free day.
The most often baked easy Christmas cookies have to be simple sugar ones. These can be baked by the dozen and decorated with icing, sprinkles or any other thing you can think of. If a few break, eat them and keep going - that's half the fun! If you have more than enough, carefully make a hole in the top of a few, brush them with a thin mixture of water and Elmer's glue and hang them on your tree.
Christmas isn't Christmas without gingerbread men. Cut a ring from the end of a number ten can and bend it into a perfect gingerbread man shape. You can substitue the sweeter, smaller raisins for tart currants, and pipe on a vest and trousers in gaily colored icing. It's mandatory to recite the story at least once!
Sand tarts are shaped like crescent moons, and are a nice twist on the regular sugar cookie. Finely chopped nuts mixed in add a little flavor, and the warm cookies are coated in powdered sugar for an explosion of sweet goodness! These are great with a cup of hot chocolate.
Santa will expect his due, so plan ahead to have his signature favorites ready. Chocolate chip or oatmeal does equally well for the man in the red suit! Pair a plate of tempting cookies with a tall glass of frothy milk and a few peeled carrots for Santa and his four legged friends.
No Christmas is complete without a batch of fancy dipped cookies. Simple shortbread gets a snap of razzle dazzle when you dunk one end in melted chocolate, white chocolate, or almond bark. These are perfect for dunking in coffee, milk or hot chocolate to add a swirl of flavor.
There are few memories as nostalgic as those of a cozy kitchen filled with the smell of baking. Everyone can make their favorite, and you'll have plenty to last the whole holiday season! Baking easy Christmas cookies should be a tradition in every household.
You will need easy Christmas cookies recipes and they're everywhere on Jim Boldings Cookie Recipe website. The easiest cookies by far are in the No Bake Cookies section.
