My guitar has wear on the top from strumming (no pickguard). Is there anyway to prevent a hole from forming?
It's an Art and Lutherie Folk Cedar top with a satin finish, which makes it fairly delicate. I was thinking about putting a clear coat of lacquer or epoxy on the wear to protect it (don't know if this would work or not) but I don't want to affect the sound of the instrument.
Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it. Sounds like a nice guitar and any add-on work would only depreciate its value. That being said, you can't always be careful when you play and if you don't mind adding something to it, you can try something like this:
